Last week, we talked about all the neat uses for hydrogen peroxide. And, I really had some fun looking all that up for you! So, this week, we’re going to talk about salt. Yes, the same salt you use in the kitchen can be used for so many things throughout your home! And again, be sure to pass this along to your family and friends!
For centuries, mankind has used salt for so many things – flavorings when it comes to our food, medical reasons, cleaning and much more. This is a list of just a few ways you can use salt in your daily life.
Pick Up A Dropped Egg – I know you’re going to go running to your kitchen (I will too!), but check this out. You can completely clean up a dropped egg in 20 minutes – without using 6 rolls of paper towels and a gallon of cleaner. Pour salt all over the dropped egg, and walk away. Set your timer for 20 minutes, enjoy a cup of coffee, then head back to the “mess”. The salt will soak up all the moisture and turn that “mess” into a paste! Take a paper towel and it’ll wipe right up!
Soothe A Bee Sting – Take the sting right out of a bee sting. Wet it a little, then sprinkle on some salt.
Eliminate A Grease Fire – Do not put water on a grease fire, as it will only allow the fire to spread! Pour salt on the grease fire, and it’ll smother the flames!
Kill Poison Ivy – Pick up a garden sprayer, that will make this job a ton easier. Pour 3 pounds of salt into the container, followed by warm water and stir it to dissolve. Then add some liquid soap (dish soap works really well) – you’ll probably want about ¼ of soap. Spray this mixture all over the leaves and stems of poison ivy. Instantly gone!
Make Egg Whites Beat Up Faster – Simply just add a pinch of salt!
Make Cream Whip Easier – Guess what the answer is – add a pinch of salt!
Test For Rotten Eggs – Need to know if an egg is still good without cracking it open? Mix 2 teaspoons of salt into a cup of water, then add your egg. A fresh egg will sink – a rotten egg will float!
Get Rid Of Fleas – Ugh I hate fleas and I know you do too. Sprinkle salt directly onto your carpet and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour, then vacuum it back up! It’ll kill the exoskeleton of the flea.
Kill Grass Growing In Your Patio Stones Or Cement – Don’t worry about digging those weeds out of your patio stones. Sprinkle salt into the cracks, then poor very hot water on top. It may take overnight, or even a repeat dose, but it will kill off those weeds!
I figured this is a great start so you can see all the neat things salt can do. Let me know which hacks you try!

Way To Go Greenville!
Guys, remember just a little bit ago, Greenville was listed as one of the top towns? We made another list! We are officially number 9 on the list of “Best River Walks In The U.S.”. There are 15 total on the list, and we rank right along with the Chicago Riverwalk, Reno’s Riverwalk District and the Napa Riverfront in California. How cool is that! Congratulations Greenville!
