Not Just For Cuts Anymore ?

Did you know that hydrogen peroxide has a TON of uses? Literally, you can use this miracle concoction for a natural pesticide, cleaning, whitening your nails and teeth, removing stains – and oh yes, first aid. I mean let’s just face it – most of us remember hydrogen peroxide as that stinging sensation when you scraped your knee and mom or dad or grandmom had to clean that boo boo.

So, I wanted to provide you with a list of all the neat ways you can use hydrogen peroxide. Be sure to pass this along to your family and friends!

Ear Cleaner – If you haven’t done this before, trust me when I say it works better than most ear drops. Don’t use Q-Tips or anything similar to try to clean wax out of your ears. You’ll run the risk of an ear infection or worse. Instead, drop a few drops of hydrogen peroxide into your ear and let it sit for 5 minutes. You’ll feel a ton of bubbling, and that means it’s working. Then simply take a cotton pad to wipe the excess hydrogen peroxide and wax out of your ear!

Whiten Your Teeth – This isn’t a rumor folks! The combination of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda will whiten your teeth very well! Brush for about 2 minutes with this solution, then rinse really well.

Carpet Cleaner – An incredibly simple carpet cleaner can be made out of 3 ingredients: Hydrogen peroxide, lemon essence oil and water. You’ll need a dark bottle to store this solution in so that the peroxide doesn’t lose it’s potency. Mix equal parts of water and hydrogen peroxide with five drops of lemon essence oil. Seriously, best carpet cleaner ever! Shake this mixture together, then spray a little on the stain on your carpet. Wait for about a minute, then scrub it out!

Treat Acne – This is one I haven’t tried but I’ve heard of. If you’ve tried this personally, I’d love to know the results! Douse a cotton ball with a little hydrogen peroxide and water (equal parts), and simply blot it on your acne. Don’t use much, but it’s said to completely eradicate pimples!

Clean Burnt Food Stains – There’s nothing more annoying that burnt food stains on the bottom of your pot. You guessed it – try hydrogen peroxide and baking soda! Mix the two together to form a paste, rub it onto that burnt food stain, and walk away for a while. After about an hour (maybe more depending on the stain), rinse it away with warm water and some dish soap. The combination of that hydrogen peroxide and baking soda will act as an abrasive, breaking up all those particles.

Heal Canker Sores – Here’s one of those first aid tips that doesn’t include a scraped knee. If you have canker sores, make a mixture of 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 1 part water. Swish that mixture around in your mouth for 30 seconds. Spit, then rinse with plain water. DO NOT SWALLOW THE PEROXIDE!

A DIY Pesticide – I know you’ve been waiting for this one! Picture this – you’re sitting outside, enjoying the summer night, when that annoying buzzing sound strikes. Mosquitoes, ants, flies – they all can be repelled by hydrogen peroxide! How? So glad you asked. Mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water into a spray bottle. Most insects are repelled by this solution, and you can once again enjoy the outdoors!

No More Yellow Nails – Seriously, this one is astounding! Simply soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide, then wipe on your yellow nails. Within a few seconds, your nails will brighten and the yellow will be gone!

Treating Athlete’s Foot and Treating Odor – You can treat your cracked heels with hydrogen peroxide too! To treat cracked heels, athletes foot or other foot ailments, put two cups of hydrogen peroxide and two cups of warm water into a deep bowl. Soak your feet in that mixture for about ten minutes twice a day.  Dry your feet and you’re good to go! This hack will only work with a mild case of athlete’s foot. If you have a more severe case, you will want to seek other alternatives including over-the-counter options.

Clean Your Mattress and Get Rid of the Mites – One of the dirtiest items in your entire house is your mattress. Chances are, you have mites living inside this non-washable item. But, don’t despair! Let’s get rid of those mites. Pour hydrogen peroxide directly into a spray bottle, and spray the mattress. It’ll kill off the germs, plus remove stains! Do this about every other month, or even monthly.

Clean Your Cutting Board – Most people have no idea how many germs lurk within their cutting board, and often, these instruments are not cleaned properly. After cleaning your cutting board, simply spray it with some hydrogen peroxide. Germs and stains be gone!

Homemade Bathroom Cleaner – I mean let’s face it – we don’t even want to think about what lurks in our bathrooms. Mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water, then spray on countertops and bathroom surfaces. You’ll be amazed at how clean your counters and bathroom will look and feel!

Make Those Mirrors Shine – Simply mix equal parts of water and hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle, and spray on your mirrors. You may need to scrub a little, but you will never have a cleaner mirror!

Laundry Helper – Cotton balls and hydrogen peroxide can become your best friend when it comes to getting rid of a stain on your laundry. You’ll only want to try this hack though on light-colored clothing. Simply soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide, then dab onto your clothes stain. Place your clothes directly into the washer, and place on a normal setting to wash.

Now, I can just keep going on and on with more hydrogen peroxide hacks, but I figured this is a great start so you can see what this solution can do. Let me know which hacks you try!
