Even if you’ve grown up in the Upstate, you might not know some of these facts about Greenville!
Did you know…….
- We’re not actually named after our lush hills which are all around our area. It’s actually named after Nathaniel Greene, a Revolutionary War hero.
- Our land originally belonged to the Cherokee.
- A huge overpass called Camperdown Bridge used to pretty much cover Reedy River Falls, which is a 28-foot tall waterfall and is the jewel of our downtown area as well as part of Fall Park. The overpass was taken down in 1960 and our falls could be enjoyed once again!
- Even though we’re in South Carolina, we average about 5 inches of snow in the winter. So you have a possibility of building a snowman – maybe!
