As a continuation of my last blog, here are more fun things to experience in Greenville SC.
- There is a movement in Greenville SC to restore the historic mill properties that had gone by the wayside. One of those restorations resulted in Soby’s that is a renovated 1800s historic cotton mill. This has turned into one of Greenville’s favorite restaurants. It offers new South Cuisine, an imaginative blend of American traditional food blended with Southern ingredients and flavors. Don’t miss the Sunday brunch with a large selection of favs offered buffet style and $3 Bloody Marys and mimosas.
- Another award-winning restaurant in a historic pre-civil war building is Larkin’s on the River. This is one of Greenville’s premier dining destination. They use premium cut steaks, super-fresh seafood, fine boutique wines, and great service. A casual ambient atmosphere, stylish décor, and warm lighting that lend to a unique dining experience.
- Home to a wide variety of animals is the Greenville Zoo. In addition to teaching about nature conservation, the zoo has a network of walking and bike paths, children’s playgrounds, tennis and volleyball courts, and picnic sites.
- Looking for a cozy place that will take you on a short trip to France? Check out the Passerelle Bistro. Cozy French-style bistro that serves a chef-inspired French fare with a local twist. Dine inside or outside on the al fresco-style patio overlooking the Falls or in the “culinary front row” at the chef’s bar where you can see them prepare the food.
- Swamp Rabbit Trail is a multi-use trail system 28.6 miles long that winds along the Reedy River and connects various parts of the city but also offering recreational and outdoor activities. The trail follows the bed of a former railroad nicknamed for the indigenous swamp rabbit. The trail starts at the Greenville Technical College and ends at Traveler’s Rest. Only non-motorized activities are allowed.
- And lastly, we will look at the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum. This museum is dedicated to baseball legend Joe Jackson and is in the house where he lived and died. The building was relocated to its present location in 2006 with the house number 356 that reflects his incredible lifetime batting average of .356. Shoeless Joe Jackson is one of the most beloved ballplayers of all time. Check out his museum to see memorabilia, artifacts and other baseball-related items from his life.
