During the next few months, we’re all going to see some changes in our area. Simple changes – ones we can’t control. The weather will get a little cooler, and the leaves will begin to change color!
We’re talking about fall! It’s that time of the year when many of us start just admiring the beauty of the fall leaves, pumpkins on front steps (whether or not if they are carved), planning a possible Halloween costume, buying candy for Halloween, enjoying the crisp, cooler air and simply just admiring everything that fall has to offer. And yes – even apple pie!
But right now, we’re going to chat about fall leaves. Whether or not you like to rake them (it can be a pain in the you know what, I know!) – they’re still just absolutely beautiful.
So if you’d like to take a drive some weekend and check out the fall foilage – here are the best places to do so.
In early October – you’ll want to head to the Blue Ridge Mountains. They’re about 2 to 2 ½ hours away from Greenville. Graveyard Fields, Waterrock Knob and Mount Mitchell are just some of the spots you’ll want to check out. Those are the highest elevations in our area, so you’ll get that high-elevation peak fall foilage ?
Thinking of driving the Blue Ridge Parkway or heading into the Smoky Mountains? Then circle mid-October on your calendar ? You’ll see those stunning views during that time period in those areas.
Road trips will get a little shorter in mid to late October. That’s when the fall foilage begins to creep into the Upstate. You’ll still have about a 1 ½ hour drive – but if you head to Pisgah National Forest + Looking Glass Falls around that time, you’ll see some gorgeous fall leaves!
And then the Upstate will peak in late October – this is when you want to head to Paris Mountain. See, told you those road trips would get shorter!
Really don’t feel like a road trip? I have you covered for that too, because Falls Park will be at it’s peak in the beginning of November ?
