The Ins and Outs in Home Design

Home designs tend
to be a bit trendy. Fads come in and stay for about 5-10 years and then they
head on out for the next big thing. Came across an article talking about the
latest ins and outs from Home Innovation’s 2017 Builder Practices Survey.
Grey is the new
Beige – but don’t let it look like a jail cell!
Seems high end
details are not as popular as they once were and builders are not using them
like they did in the past.
      Quartz
crazy
. Home Innovation’s
list has this as the most expensive product but 2016 was its best year yet.
Thirteen percent of new homes had quartz surfaces in the bathroom up 9 percent
from 2015. Kitchen counters in quartz was even more popular at 15 percent
compared to 9 percent in 2015.
Nickel. Gaining ground in kitchens and baths is
nickel faucets outselling stainless steel, chrome and bronze.
      Vinyl
and Hardwood
. Luxury vinyl tile
and high-end solid hardwood floors are winning in kitchens. Ceramic tile and
engineered hardwoods rose a bit.
      Ut
oh, Jacuzzi
. Jetted tubs are a
losing trend dropping from 15 percent installs to 11 percent in 2016.
      Natural
stone surfaces
.
New homes being built with natural granite and marble showers and baths dropped
to 9 percent last year as did high-end enameled cast iron and granite sinks.
The mid-range to lower vitreous china and enameled steel sinks are returning.
Although this is
just a survey of newer homes it does give you a clue as to what new home buyers
are looking for in their homes. Sooo, if you have a renovation job coming up
soon it might be a good idea to head over to RealtorMag Blogs and check out
their
Styled Staged & Sold topics. Most of these blogs are designed
to help home sellers get their home sold and that could be you one day.
Financing is still
at all time historic lows with the national average coming in around 3.96% last
month. Now could be the time to make a move, literally. ?
