We Are Officially America’s Coolest Weekend City!

Things like this have happened for years – you have those “surveys” online of the best pizza, the coolest city… And actually, when we’re talking about the “coolest city”, previous award recipients if you will have been Portland, Asheville, Seattle, and Austin. But, the newest prize winner is right here in South Carolina. And no, ladies and gentleman – it is NOT Charleston!

Our downtown, urban bike paths, local food, art scene – all of those factors conglomerated together to give us officially the title of “Coolest Weekend City”. No pun intended here folks but how “cool” is that!

Here’s what they’re saying about Greenville.

We are considered to be one of the most charming downtowns in all of America! Our downtown consists of Falls Park on the Reedy, which features a 32-acre park and 20 acres of gardens. If you have never been there – do it, just do it. It’s beautiful! Then head down Swamp Rabbit Trail for some local food, enjoy the “scenery from above” on Liberty Bridge which is a 345 foot single-cable suspension bridge, or stroll through the farmers market in Travelers Rest.

Since we mentioned food – we are filled to the gills with local eateries including Pita House, Husk BBQ, The Anchorage, and Yee-Haw. You won’t be disappointed. Many of our local restaurants have an international base and are astounding!

We have tons of local artists – and one of the most vibrant art scenes in the South. Artisphere is one of the top art festivals in the country, and takes place right here in Greenville each spring. We also have many independent art galleries in West Greenville, and there are more than 95 public works of art scattered throughout our city.

Here’s one of my favorite parts about where we live – we are right at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains with five state parks just a reach away. These parks are known for fishing, camping, hiking, and just simply getting away from it all. The waterfalls in the parks will simply take your breath away – and you’ll soon forget that you’re only about five miles away from downtown.
