Victoria Cottle

Red, White and Blue

Being a retired U.S. Army Sargeant, this is one of my favorite holidays. Why? It’s our nation’s birthday! A celebration of our nation’s independence. And what better way to celebrate than with fireworks!

Now, there are other ways to celebrate – bbq’s, family, pool parties, and even parades! Besides, who DOESN’T love a parade?

So, with that said, I’d like to provide you with a few great things happening this weekend, in celebration of our nation’s birthday and independence! There’s a lot of them, and GVL Today listed them all, so I’m not going to provide you with everything going on 😊

Saturday – One of the best events this weekend is the Kid’s Bike Parade taking place in Travelers Rest, Trailblazer Park. Starts at 10 am, and there will be prizes for the most creative and most decorative bikes!

Sunday – Take part in the Red, White and Blue Picnic at Fluor Field, starting at 5 pm! Enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet, watch the Greenville Drive play, and then enjoy a fireworks show at the end.

Then on Monday, end the weekend with a bang! Fireworks are back at Unity Park! The celebrations will take place from 6-10 pm, and they encourage you to bring a blanket and picnic dinner. It will be so nice sitting in the park on Monday enjoying this long-time tradition in our city of Greenville!
