It really is true that when life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade. But, maybe in some cases, you might want to consider placing some lemon slices in your kitchen in a bowl.
All homes have unique scents – some trust me are worse than others. Trust me, you may not notice it because you live there. But if a guest walks in – they notice it! They just may not say it.
Here are some great tips I came across to help you keep your home smelling terrific year round and during any occasion!
Make your trash smell good. I know, that seems weird. But use this little trick – simply drop a few drops of scented essential oil to the bottom of your trash can before you put the new bag in. If you want even more of a strong-smelling solution, mix 2 teaspoons of citric acid, a half cup of water, 10 drops of tea tree oil and 20 drops of pine essential oil into a spray bottle. Every time you take the trash bag out, spray some of this mixture into the bottom of the can. You’ll be amazed at how fresh it smells!
Add a drop of lemon oil to your laundry. One drop, that’s all it’s going to take and your blankets and clothes will smell outstanding!
Put lemon slices into your dishwasher. Strange, I know – but if you add a few slices of lemon into your dishwasher your whole kitchen will smell like a lemon paradise!
Get a lemon scent into your microwave too! Just put one cup of water and one cup of vinegar into a bowl. Then cut a lemon in half and squeeze that juice into that same bowl. Put both of those lemon halves into that same bowl now, and place the whole thing into the microwave, then run the microwave on high for 10 minutes. Then all you need to do is wipe down the walls of the microwave and everything will be lemon fresh!
Ready to vacuum? Put a few drops of rose oil into your vacuum cleaner’s filter basket. I know, that one doesn’t even need more instructions does it?
Let me know if you tried some of these tricks. I’d love to hear how it works out for you!
